40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard of God; Abraham did not [do] this.

40 All I have ever done is to tell you the truth I heard from God, yet you are trying to kill me. Abraham did nothing like this!

40 [20] They answered and said to him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, [AX] "If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works of Abraham.
